Terms & Conditions

These terms are the agreement between you and Brainzie Ltd for using Brainzie Snugstar. We've kept them short and plain. By using the app, you agree to them.

1. Who we are

Brainzie Snugstar is operated by Brainzie Ltd ("we", "us"), registered in England & Wales (company number 16262756). You can reach us at hello@brainzie.co.uk.

2. What Brainzie Snugstar is

Brainzie Snugstar is statistics and scientific graphing in your browser. You bring your data; it checks the assumptions, recommends and runs the analysis — column statistics, normality tests, t tests, one-way ANOVA, their rank-based alternatives and multiple comparisons today, with more analyses added over time — and draws the graph with the results on it. It runs on your device and stores your projects in the Google Drive or OneDrive you connect and control (see our Privacy Policy).

3. The results are yours to judge

We test Snugstar's calculations against established reference statistical software, and every recommendation it makes tells you the numbers it was based on. But statistics answers the question it is asked, and only you know your experiment:

• Snugstar is a tool, not a statistician, and nothing in it is professional advice. You are responsible for choosing an appropriate analysis, for checking that its assumptions hold for your data and design, and for how you interpret and report the results.
• Check anything that matters — a thesis, a paper, a regulatory submission — before you rely on it, and ask a statistician when in doubt.
• Snugstar is not a medical device, and must not be used to diagnose, treat or make decisions about any individual person.

If you believe Snugstar has calculated something wrongly, please tell us at hello@brainzie.co.uk with the data that shows it — we treat that as the most serious kind of bug.

4. Your account and your data

• You sign in with your own Google or Microsoft account, and your projects are stored in cloud storage you control. Keeping that account secure is your responsibility.
• You're responsible for the data you enter. Because we never hold it, we cannot recover it if you lose access to your own cloud; keeping your own backups is your responsibility.
• If your data concerns other people — study participants, patients, volunteers — you are responsible for having the right to hold and analyse it, including any ethics approval, consent and institutional permissions that apply.
• You agree to use the app lawfully and not to misuse, disrupt or attempt to break the service.

5. Your results belong to you

The graphs, tables, methods text and figures you create with Snugstar are yours. Use them in papers, theses, posters, slides and reports as you wish — no attribution to us is required, although we're always glad when you mention us.

6. Free and paid plans

Everything in Brainzie Snugstar is currently free to use. We may introduce a paid plan ("Synapse") for some features in future. If we do, we will publish its price and what it includes here and in the app before any of it applies to you, you will only ever be charged if you choose to subscribe, and your projects stay in your own storage whatever plan you are on.

7. Payment, renewal and cancellation

These apply once paid plans exist and only if you subscribe:

• The price you pay is the price shown to you at checkout. Payment is handled securely by Stripe; we never see your card details.
• A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the app; cancellation stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
• If you are a consumer, you have the statutory right to cancel within 14 days of purchase for a refund, except where you've asked to start using paid features immediately and have done so. This does not affect your other statutory rights.

8. Availability and "as is"

We work hard to keep Brainzie Snugstar running and correct, but we provide it "as is" and can't guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties.

9. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of data held in your own cloud, or for decisions, publications or submissions based on results you obtained with Snugstar; and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Intellectual property

The Brainzie Snugstar app, brand and content are owned by Brainzie Ltd. Your data and your results are, and remain, entirely yours. GraphPad Prism is a trademark of GraphPad Software, and Excel of Microsoft; Brainzie Snugstar is not affiliated with or endorsed by either, and names them only so you know it can read what you paste from them.

11. Ending these terms

You can stop using Brainzie Snugstar at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or misuse the service. Your projects stay in your own cloud regardless.

12. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and disputes fall to the courts of England & Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your home country.
